The Gordo Electric Bean Pot
Like a lot of comic strips, "Gordo" was occasionally merchandised -- but while his likeness never showed up on t-shirts, action figures or novelty pencil toppers, he *did* appear on an electric bean cooker released in 1948!
The ceramic pot featured embossed images of Gordo, Pepito, Señor Dog, Pig and Popo on the front and reverse. All Gordo merchandise is rare -- there were very few efforts to merchandise the strip that made headway, and even collections are few and far between -- but the beanpot is one of the most difficult to find Gordo-related items.
Luckily, at the very least, there are plentiful ads for the item:

Some beanpot buyers were able to have their purchase autographed by Arriola himself! |
